Merger Cleared For Take-off

As we all prepped the Turkey, shopped for cranberry juice or packed our bags for a flight. One last airline to shop for now as two becomes one. US Airways and American Airlines on Wednesday were given the all clear to merge from all suits that blocked earlier in august of this year. The U.S bankruptcy court for the Southern district of New York Judge Sean Lane had ruled the settlement with the Department of justice does not disrupt the merge based on conditions agreed.

From releasing a percentage of slots that both airlines owned at Washington National and agree to other terms to be requested by bankruptcy court both airlines can merge. All legal battles are out of the way for the two airlines to become the largest airline in the world. December 9th will be the official date the two become American Airlines Group.

As many other airline mergers have come and gone one thing we at airline adviser have noticed preliminary moves are always made regardless. Even in Miami at the north side of the airport for months many a number US Airways Boeing 737 aircraft had been stripped of their livery in preparation of sale. A private anti-trust lawsuit was filed by a group of consumers for which the Judge that ruled the airlines clear to merge had failed based on his decision.

Starting December 9, 2013 it will begin trading as AAL which will be called American Airlines Group Inc. Based on all events that have taken place and a consumer lawsuit was not given much of a chance just remember airlines without a satisfied consumer you do not have happy customers.
