Nordwind Airlines fired upon by Surface to Air Missile

There have been reports that have surfaced from Nordwind Airlines that on April 29, 2013 two surface to air missiles were fired at the charter flight. En route to Kazan it was flying over Syrian airspace and the pilots took evasive action for which no injuries or damage occurred. Syrian officials have confirmed some type of action, but the attackers are unidentified forces. This is not acceptable and the Russian Foreign Ministry is now taking emergency action and advising airlines not to fly over Syrian airspace.

The airlines operates charter flights from Moscow and other cities of Russia to Spain, Austria, Italy and Greece and further to Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, India, UAE, Thailand, Indonesia and China. The aircraft that was allegedly attacked was an Airbus A320 with 159 passengers on board. Again no reported damage or injuries.
