PEOPLExpress Airlines Closer to Flying

Late last week PeoplExpress is one major step closer to flying. Based in Newport News and Founded on February 13, 2012 the airline has been trying to get started without success. In order to do so tactics had to change in approach of getting certified by the FAA to fly.

In recent months the approach of getting its wings changed course to buying an existing airline. One in particular needed a lifeline to extend its wings and grow. Xtra Airways primarily concentrates on charter flights. Also known as Casino Express they operate one Boeing 737-400 with 12 first class and 138 economies. In addition as it becomes seasonal for the airline they operate a Boeing 737-800 coach class seating 189.

Formerly having a business partnership with Direct Air that unfortunately came to an abrupt end. No fault of Xtra Airways for a time they had stored the Boeing 737-400. People Express was very popular from 1981 to 1987 for which operations ceased that year. At its height of success and thriving in low cost operator it had a fleet of 50 Boeing 727-20, 17 Boeing 737-100, 5 Boeing 737-200, 3 Boeing 747-100 and 6 Boeing 747-200 respectively flying coach class only.

The new venture had provided capital of $500,000 to invest of Xtra Airways that has an excellent relationship for the past 25 years with the FAA. PeoplExpress and Xtra look forward to the next 25 years and so do we at Airline Adviser.
